Big Changes at Wolf Hollow

Posted on Leave a commentPosted in Brewery News

As many of you know, we have been talking about our expansion project for a while now and kept using the word “soon.” Well, this morning, soon became a reality. We are delighted to officially welcome our two new 15 barrel fermenters to the brewhouse! Along with these new tanks there have been some other projects going on around the brewery you may also have noticed. Last week we put in a brand new septic system, which you can still see right now when you pull into the parking lot on the left side. This new system will allow us to handled the scaled up beer production. Another project that most have not seen is the new keg refrigerator that has been constructed in the back barn. This fridge is now home to the 200+ new kegs that arrived on the truck along with the fermenters this morning and will also soon be operational to help store all the new beer! We are so excited to share these exciting times with all you, our dedicated community which without you none of this would have been possible. We hope to see you all down at the Hollow in the coming weeks to celebrate with us and check out the shiny new toys.

Hey folks,
One of the biggest questions we get here at WHBC is “when are you going to open more hours?”  And though the events outlined below aren’t regular open hours, you have the opportunity in the next couple of months to get in here at a time when we’re usually closed and have a lot of fun!
One event is free and open to the public, one has a cover charge, and the other two require pre-sale only tickets.  Check out these 4 upcoming opportunities to enjoy Your Beer, Brewed Here!

2.  Schenectady County Community College Sips for Scholarships!
On Tuesday, March 21, we’ll be open to the public for a night of delicious beer and food for a great cause.  A dollar from every pint that we sell that evening will go towards raising funds for scholarships to SCCC’s Craft Beer Brewing and Beverage Management Program.  This program helps to train the next crop of folks that will help to keep our area thriving as a great destination for fine, locally crafted beverages.  So come and take a sip for a scholarship!
3.  St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fundraiser here at WHBC!
On April 2 at 1:00 PM we will be hosting a local St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser to raise money to support childhood cancer research.  This super-fun head-shaving event will run from 1-6 PM, with a buffet from our friends at Buzzard’s Bay Barbecue running from 1-4 PM.  A ticket to this event gets you a buffet dinner, a beer token for WHBC beer, and includes a donation to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.  There are child tickets available for this as well.  So, grab your ticket today and help to knock out childhood cancer!

Friday we welcome to WHBC local favorites Yankee Holler, named “Best Local Indie Rock Band” in the 2015 Metroland Reader’s Poll!  Show starts at 7pm.

Capping off the weekend on Saturday we’ve another local favorite, The Lazy Suns!  Their show starts at 9pm and will go until about 11:30, beers will pour until the show is over.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, March 15, WHBC will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with Get Up Jack a couple of days early in order for you to maximize your Irish!  $10 cover, music starts at 7pm.

Melting Ice and Mud Puddles

Despite what Punxsutawney Phil “predicted” it feels like spring is knocking on the door and you can feel the energy as people are starting to come out more, it is staying lighter later and things are lining up for an exciting and busy spring brewery season!  To that end this is the LAST WEEKEND of our winter seasonal Tiny Tartan Scotch Ale…make sure to fill your growlers so that you have enough to make it through to the end of actual winter because as we upstaters know, it can persist.

To help you shake off the winter come in THIS SATURDAY, Feb 25 and get down with the amazing Upstate Rubdown back for their second appearance on the WHBC Brewhouse Concert Series stage!  You won’t be able to sit still (nor should you) when they break into their unique brand of Americana described as a “hurricane of sound”.  Show starts at 9pm, tap room stays open late!

Next week, February 28 from 4-10pm we will be doubling down on the spring celebrations as we release our Look Bock and Laugh spring seasonal beer on Mardi Gras!  In addition to special pint pricing, Buzzard’s Bay will be making French pitmaster-style jambalaya, we will have a Best-Dressed contest for your Mardi Gras get-ups (winner and runner up receive WHBC and BBBBQ gift cards!) and special live Mardi Gras music with local jazz ensemble, Tanager!

There is always something brewing here at Wolf Hollow!  Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for regular updates.

Cheers!

If you didn’t already know this about our brewer, not only can Jordan brew excellent beer but he can also scout out amazing musical acts and bring them to our WHBC Brewhouse stage.  And what could be better than good brews and tunes?  Add some fantastic BBQ to the mix and you’ve got bliss!

Don’t miss the opportunity to see up close and personal The Matt Flinner Trio on February 8. The ticket price for this event includes a seat for the show and appetizers, dinner and dessert from Buzzards Bay BBQ.  Tickets can be purchased at whbc.brownpapertickets.com.  Get yours today…one day you’ll be the person saying “I saw Matt Flinner from 10 feet away”!

Finishing out the weekend of music we will have Running the River on Friday, Feb 10, back for their third stint and the Saturday WHBCBCS show features Appalachian Still out of Northampton, MA “playing high energy Americana that combines oldtime mountain music with bluegrass, rock, and folk”.  If you haven’t already discovered the gem that is the WHBC Brewhouse Concert series, February would be a great time to start!  Warm up your mid-winter at Wolf Hollow…Cheers!

Happy 2017!

Our year started off with a bang ringing in the new year (on French time!) with so many of you.  Thanks for coming out to celebrate with us and our friends at Buzzard’s Bay! We are ramping up for what promises to be a fantastic year ahead so keep your eye on the website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates and events as they unfold.

This Friday we are having a Tap Takeover at Katie O’Byrnes in Schenectady starting at 8pm…come visit with Jordan and Pete and taste four beers new-to-Katie’s and on Saturday at 2pm at the brewery, the Craft Beer Brewing class from Schenectady County Community College will be using our pilot system to get some pro-brew training while we’re open. This is a great chance to see the brewing process on display in an up-close and personal way. Sit at the counter with some barbecue and your favorite pint of WHBC beer and watch as these guys make their first professional batch of beer!  Cool, right?

Next weekend we welcome Mikey Sweet to the WHBC Brewhouse Concert Series stage, Saturday, January 14 at 9pm!  Thursday and Friday warm up bands will be Neil and Jess and Flood Road, respectively.

As you look ahead into your 2017, take note…WHBC is available to host your private meetings and events!  Contact us at brewers@wolfhollowbrewing.com for information on rates and dates.
